MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals break losing streak

Ball State wins against Indiana State in overtime

A rare 3-pointer from senior D'Andre Peyton with 15 seconds remaining in overtime lifted the Ball State University men's basketball team over intrastate rival Indiana State University 73-70.

The win ended a four-game losing streak for the Cardinals (3-4), and was the first overtime game of the season. The game was constantly close, with no team holding more than a 6-point lead.

Head coach Ronny Thompson said the fans were a big part of today's win.

"Did you guys hear the student section or was it just me?" Thompson said. "We got to have them like that more often. We got to have them like that every game. They were huge, and I thought our guys fed off of them in a huge way, in a huge, huge way. And that just got our guys going."

Peyton led the team in scoring with a career high 22 points, while senior Skip Mills added 15 and sophomore Anthony Newell scored 11 for the Cards. Senior Chris Ames had a team high eight rebounds, and added four assists and three steals.
