Get ready for the camera before you go out to the bars this weekend, as Trish Stratus and Wee Man have arranged to hit the Village bars with a camera crew in tow.
Producers of "Armed and Famous" talked with managers of Dill Street and The Chug about bringing some of the show's celebrities out to drink with Ball State University students and Muncie residents.
The staff at Dill Street is preparing for penny pitchers and mechanical bull riding tonight when Stratus and Jason Acu+â-¦a, known as Wee Man, are expected to come from about 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
"Anywhere you want to go in Muncie where you can go ride a mechanical bull, jello-wrestle, really off-the-wall things, that aren't illegal of course ... definitely, it's here," Dill Street manager Thomas Jobe said.
In the past, Tom Greene has jello-wrestled and Ron Jeremy and the cast of Real World have all come out to the bar. The mechanical bull is being rented from Indianapolis and will sit in the middle of the dance floor. The bull will be removed when the stars leave, Jobe said.
Friday's are normally a busy night, and Jobe said he expected an even larger crowd than normal and suggested people come early. Because of the bull, there will be less space.
"We are going to get as many people in here as we can," Jobe said. "We are going to pack the place out, but make sure everyone is safe who is in here."
Dill Street will be fully staffed for the night, with six bouncers, five bartenders and a couple of servers, he said. Bouncer Adam Brookbank said while he expected tonight to be busy, it won't be very different from a normal night.
"I'd rather be working than drinking," he said. "I don't want to be in the big crowds fighting to get to the bars. It should be like Homecoming."
Thursday night, Aaron Stewart, manager at The Chug, said he expected Stratus and Wee Man to come out for karaoke, but he didn't know when they would come. By 11 p.m., they still had not arrived not there, but Stewart said he would be glad to have the celebrities come anytime.
"It's kind of cool they will come out and drink with college students," he said. "They're in town for a long time, anything we can do to bring them in, we'll do."
While Wee Man and Stratus were not at The Chug, junior Angel Couch said she was excited about the celebrities coming out to the Village.
"I think it's awesome," she said. "I love Wee Man; midgets rock."
Couch was drinking with friends Thursday night at The Chug and they agreed that people would respond very differently to the stars. Some people would be cool about it and not bug the celebrities, but others would be loud and draw attention to themselves and the celebrities. The group of friends said they would want to respect the stars.
"They are normal people," Couch said. "They should be able to go the bar. It could be cool, we could either embrace them or scare them."
