LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Jack Hanna appearance needed more communication

I, like many, was turned away from the Jack Hanna show Wednesday at Emens Auditorium.

I arrived to the show at 6:30 p.m. hoping to see an excellent show. I am writing this letter in disappointment, not frustration, from the lack of communication by the Emens staff.

Because this was publicized outside of the Ball State campus, I think they should have given people a notice saying that they expected a large crowd and to arrive early if they wanted to see the show.

In addition to the lack of communication with the staff, I also noticed the lack of communication in the parking services. I parked in one of the last spots on the top row of the Emens parking garage and had to tell the attendants that the lot was full. Once I returned to the parking garage after I was turned away from the show, I also had to tell the attendants that they were not accepting any more people. They had no idea that people were being turned away.

I saw little kids returning with their parents to their cars, and seeing the looks on their faces was disappointing.

For future events, I hope the Emens staff learns to communicate better with the community to prevent the same thing from happening again.

On a positive note, parking services refunded the two dollars to park to everyone who went home disappointed.
