Parking services has become much worse since last year. Not only were there not enough spots for the commuters last year, but now parking services has decided to take even more spots away from us this year.
This year in the two lots behind the Student Center I noticed that half of one of the lots was designated yellow for the faculty. I understand that the faculty has to park, but so do the students who paid seventy dollars. This is a problem because with fewer spots there are more students fighting for the ones that are open.
For example, a couple of weeks ago I was waiting for a spot that a student was pulling out of, when all of a sudden another commuter came screaming around the corner to take it because it was the only one open. This almost caused a wreck that could have been very bad. I have also seen this happen to other students many times in the lots.
I decided to do my own little research to see how many of the faculty members were actually parking in the spaces that were designated for them. I checked the lots everyday at nine and again at noon and noticed that at the most there were ten cars parked in the lot. This means that there are a lot of spots open that commuters are not allowed to use.
What parking services should do is designate only a row for the faculty and give the rest back to the commuters. By doing this, faculty will have more spots and so will the commuters, which will make everyone happy.
