FOOTBALL: Ball State defeats Kent State

Cardinals end season with a 5-7 record

Larry Bostic ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns as Ball State University defeated Kent State University 30-6 in its regular season finale.

Nate Davis threw for 268 yards and a touchdown in aiding the Cardinals to their victory.

Three second quarter touchdowns put the game away for Ball State. Bostic scored his first touchdown from four yards out with eight minutes to go. On the next possession, Davis found Terry Moss open at the four-yard line and Moss fought his way into the end zone to push the lead to 17-0. A 41-yard pass from Davis to Dante Love set up the final touchdown of the quarter, who laid out for a pass along the left sideline at the seven. Bostic scored on the next play to put the game out of reach.

Brian Jackson added a pair of field goals in the second half.

The Ball State defense played its best game of the year statistically, holding the Golden Flashes to only 265 yards of offense. Cortlan Booker led the way with eight tackles, three of them for a loss of yardage.

The Cardinals end the year with a 5-7 record, and 5-3 in Mid-American Conference play.
