I am tired of hearing that Emens loses money for rock shows.
The fact of the matter is that Ball State University does not really publicize the events. Granted, they put ads out in the Daily News, but that is all they seem to do.
I'm sorry, but a little ad on page three is not going to grab my attention. I think there is more publicity for local rock shows that play in smaller venues than there are for those that play at Emens. Put out more flyers or create a street team to get kids interested in going to shows.
Another thing Ball State can do is get bands worth seeing. When did The Strokes have their last big single? Yeah, it would cost more money to get a bigger act, but I believe they would get their money back because more people would be willing to see a better band.
If Ball State is worried about losing money on concerts, then put that money to better use for the students besides getting crappy bands to play for us.
