LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Current dining service price allowances problematic

I would like to address the issues of the dining services' meal times and price allowances.

I believe that this current system is causing problems with the satisfaction of most of the students here at Ball State University.

I found that most students find it difficult to structure a schedule around the meal plan hours, and even more difficult to spend the specific amount allowed whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I myself find these tasks to be a bit cumbersome.

Finally, I would like to make some suggestions on how to make this current mind-boggling issue easier and more user-friendly.

Being able to visit the dining areas within a certain meal time restraint is difficult for a lot of students due to the time balancing they do between class and studying. Most of the students at Studebaker West complex feel it is difficult to visit dining services at the time they want to spend a certain amount of money.

Some suggestions that I have that would make this hassle far less stressful would be to get rid of all restraints corresponding to spending along with the time. This policy could be a lot easier and efficient to use, if students could spend a limited weekly amount any day of the week. That way, students could spend the money at a time convenient for them, and they could stock up on food that they could eat throughout the week. For students who eat on a daily basis, they should be able to spend a limited amount throughout the day.

These solutions will create a much greater sense of satisfaction between the students and the dining services.
