Ball State University senior linebacker Brad Seiss was admitted to Ball Memorial Hospital Sunday morning after being diagnosed with a skin infection.
The infection is located at a scar on his left knee, where he had ACL, MCL and meniscus surgery in May.
Seiss first became sick on Friday, recording an 104-degree temperature.
On Saturday, the team put Seiss on an IV to try to get fluids back into his body so that he'd be able to play against Northern Illinois University.
He was in the game for about 10 plays against the Huskies.
There is no official timetable for Seiss' release, but Ball State coach Brady Hoke said that he expects Seiss to be released on Thursday. He will not play in Saturday's game against the University at Buffalo.
Hoke also said it is not a long-term injury.
In two games, Seiss has recorded only two tackles.
