Ball State University's associate vice president for Marketing and Communications officially accepted a job offer Monday from Michigan State University.
Heather Shupp will leave Ball State Oct. 13 to be the assistant vice president for University Relations at Michigan State.
Pending an official announcement, Michigan State declined to confirm Heather Shupp's acceptance of the offer.
She accepted the position after Michigan State offered her husband, Ball State economic assistant professor Robert Shupp, an assistant professor position in the agricultural economic department, she said.
"It's very exciting to look at the opportunity and know we made this decision because it's a good time, a good fit," she said.
Michigan State is a Big Ten school, and Heather Shupp said she will be working with a staff of 60 instead of 26, as she does at Ball State.
Tom Taylor, vice president of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications, said an open search will begin as soon as possible to find a replacement for the position.
"It's one of those bittersweet moments," he said. "I've told people I hate losing her, but it's a great opportunity."
