A delay in the shipment of food-storage carts is preventing the Bookmark Caf+â-¬ from opening. The carts are not just delayed; they appear not to be coming at all.
It is time for a new plan.
Mobile Solutions Foodservice Inc., the company that is supposed to supply the carts, has been given ample opportunity to rectify the situation.
It hasn't.
University officials still seem to think these carts will appear.
They won't.
Ball State University is not alone in its woes.
Duke University is pursuing legal action against the cart supplier for a similar problem. And they paid up front for their order, which was considerably larger.
Ball State's agreement is to pay for the carts when they are received. At least that advantage remains.
Everything else that needs to be done in order to open Bookmark Caf+â-¬ has been addressed, Liz Poore, assistant director of Residence Hall Dining Services, said.
The only thing postponing the opening is the food carts.
This company does not deserve the university's business.
Students have waited long enough.
Now is the time to cut what losses there are and turn a new page in the plan for Bookmark Caf+â-¬.
Find a new supplier for the food carts.
