Ivy Tech student arrested at Ball State

A 19-year-old Ivy Tech student was arrested on five charges Friday morning after police saw someone throw a stop sign and post into the grass at First Presbyterian Church at 1400 W. Riverside Ave.

Nicholas Gaunt was arrested on charges of theft, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication, falsely identifying himself to officers and minor in possession of alcohol at 1 a.m. Friday morning, according to the police report.

When Ball State University Police pulled into the church parking lot, Gaunt began running toward Beacon Hill apartment complex but was arrested in front of apartment 406, according to the report.

When apprehended, Gaunt was carrying an Indiana driver license with the name Daniel McQuiston and when breathalized he registered a BAC of .14.

The stop sign was taken from the southwest corner of Dicks Street and Ashland Avenue.
