TRACK: Team splits, travels to separate relays

The Ball State University women's track and field team split up the team for the final time this weekend.

Half the track and field squad travels to Des Moines, Iowa, for the Drake Relays while the other heads north to Hillsdale, Mich. for the Hillsdale Relays. Having split the squad for two weekends prior, the team is eager to use the majority of the season to prepare for the big meets ahead.

Coach Sue Parks said that with only a few weeks before the Mid-American Conference Championships, the team needs to continue to get healthy and knock down some better times.

"We are still looking to get some more injuries taken care of and improve on our marks," Parks said. "It'll help a lot improving our marks heading into MAC in a couple of weeks."

With the recent success, all squad members are anxious for meets ahead after the meet last weekend at Anderson University. The Cardinals took home eight individual first-place honors in addition to eight runner-ups.

After this weekend the Cardinals will be traveling to the Butler Twilight May 5 in Indianapolis, which is their last tune-up before the MAC Championships.
