Men's basketball coach Ronny Thompson nabbed his first recruit for the 2006-07 season Tuesday. Micah Rollin signed a national letter of intent to attend Ball State University and play on the team.
Rollin, a junior-college transfer, has played only one year of organized basketball. Rollin averaged 3.4 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game during his sophomore season at the College of Southern Idaho.
The 6-foot-10 center, who played in 31 games and started in three of them, helped Southern Idaho post a 25-10 record. Rollin, however, suffered through foul trouble for much of the season and averaged as many fouls per game as points (3.4).
"Anyone who has the presence he has will be a huge asset to our team and our league," Thompson said in a press release. "Micah can catch, score and finish. I am also excited about his potential, because we can teach and instruct those other areas."
The signing of Rollin leaves Ball State with four scholarships left to offer for next season.
