LETTERS: UPB requests more student input, offers meetings open to everyone

Dear Editor,

The University Program Board is a voluntary board made up of students from Ball State University's campus. Throughout the year, the board works to plan events to entertain students. But to effectively do this, student ideas and input are needed.

UPB strives to meet the diverse wants and needs of Ball State students. This year, UPB hosted Fall Fest, Friday Nite Filmworks, React to Art, the Haunted House and the Children's Halloween party, and it has cosponsored events including "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," the Latino Student Union's Latin Dinner Theatre, several movies and more. Past events have also included Jason Mraz and Sugarcult, as well as Stevie Starr, The Regurgitator.

There are several ways for students to give their input on what kind of programs they would like to see brought to campus. Meetings are held at 9:15 p.m. every Tuesday in L.A. Pittenger Student Center Room 303. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings to give input and help decide what UPB money brings to campus. There are opportunities to plan and execute events and gain promotional and leadership experience.

Also, a "contact us" page on the UPB Web site can be accessed at bsu.edu/upb. Comments and suggestions from this are discussed during meetings and are encouraged for helping UPB grow.

Although the semester is winding down, there are still many opportunities for students to get involved with UPB. Spring Fling events and Late Nite's Carnival will happen during the week of April 16, as well as a poetry slam and several major movies. In addition, a cosponsorship on April 24 with Spectrum and the Asian American Student Association will bring Margaret Cho to Emens Auditorium to wrap up the semester.

Anyone still wanting to get involved is welcome, and University Program Board looks forward to seeing many new faces in the fall.
