LETTERS: Everyone feels hate for something; anti-hate campaign seems futile

Dear Editor,

Well, this is great. We all hate hate.

Who wouldn't be against hate, with the possible exception of haters? And I wouldn't want to be one of them haters. In fact, I hate them. Does that make me a hater?

Although I'm curious if this includes player haters. I've been told before not to hate the player but to hate the game. But that's still hating. Should I hate the player, the game or neither? I don't see a way around one or the other, being the obvious hater that I am.

Are Mayor Dan Canan and President Jo Ann Gora haters because they hate hate? I'm sure Mahatma Gandhi hated hate - let's include him in our master list of haters.

My point is, people are going to feel how they want. Everyone hates something - and rightfully so, with certain things. I hate genocide. I have problems with anyone who doesn't hate genocide.

If you want to advocate socializing preschoolers and elementary schoolers differently - which is when people learn hateful behaviors - to prevent hate, then great. Focus on that.

The anti-hate campaign on campus currently serves absolutely no purpose, except to mobilize us in a campaign that is even more futile than the War on Drugs.
