WOMEN'S GOLF: Ball State anticipates strong tournament

The Ball State University women's golf team is looking to continue its strong performance at this week's UNC-Wilmington Lady Seahawk Invitational in Wallace, N.C. The team is hoping that the momentum gained last week can lead to more success.

"We hope to pick up where we left off at Butler," coach Kathy Mowat said. "A lot of the players feel confident."

The Cardinals are coming off a strong showing at last week's weather-shortened Butler Spring Invitational, which they won with a team score of 317. Ball State had three of the top 10 finishers, including Katie Sundberg, who was the medalist. Kallie Harrison tied for third and Carmen Bodine tied for seventh.

This week's field features 14 teams that the Cardinals know little about. However, the team knows that this will be a tough test, Mowat said.

"There are a lot of good teams," Mowat said. "This will be a good test. We have to be strong mentally."
