MEN'S BASKETBALL: Ball State defeats Eastern Michigan in overtime

Cardinals will travel to Buffalo Monday

Ball State clinched the No. 9 seed in the Mid-American Conference Tournament with an 89-77 overtime victory against Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The Cardinals will play at No. 8 seed Buffalo on Monday.

Ball State and Buffalo played each other twice this season, splitting the series. The Cards lost at Buffalo 76-64 on Jan. 18, but Ball State pulled out a seven-point win against the Bulls on Feb. 7.

Ball State (10-17 overall, 6-12 MAC West) ended a four-game losing streak with its win over Eastern Michigan. Ball State outscored Eastern Michigan 32-11 in the final 11 minutes of the game. After tying the game at 72-72 to send the game into overtime, Ball State came out aggressive in the overtime period.

The Cardinals outscored Eastern Michigan 17-5 in the overtime period. Junior Skip Mills scored a career-high 34 points and freshman Maurice Acker finished the game with 15 points and six assists.
