Dear Editor,
I'm confused. Is the campaign to "Stop Hate" really to stop hate or to stop racism and discrimination?
Personally, hate is a human emotion, and without hate, I inherently give up part of my humanity. Giving up a natural human emotion that is what makes us all human is ridiculous. I can hate the weather today, or I can hate Duke basketball.
That is why I didn't sign the banner to stop "hate."
Without hate, I would be OK with discrimination and racism. Being part Native American, I am reminded of the travesties my ancestors have suffered.
And if I were to give up my hate, then I would give up my ability to detest and hate racism and discrimination, which is the true evil.
