LETTERS: Full-figured women should not be seen as less attractive than others

Dear Editor,

This is in response to Brad Hostetter's column on March 29, "Celebs shouldn't put obesity in positive light." I agree with the statement - obesity is a huge problem in the United States - but Hostetter attacking full-figured women and claiming they are unattractive is preposterous.

There are many men out there who are attracted to women with sport utility vehicle-sized trunks, and I don't think Hostetter gets it.

Beauty is not linked to the waist size of a woman. There are plenty of women - and this is not saying thinner women are not beautiful - that a lot of men wouldn't find as attractive as, say, Queen Latifah or Tocara from "America's Next Top Model."

Whatever Hostetter's shortcomings might be, to where he must attack all of the big beautiful women out there, he is wrong. There is nothing wrong with full-figured women being role models; this country doesn't have that problem when it comes to big men being in the spotlight.

Women everywhere, no matter their sizes, should be offended by Hostetter's bashing of women.

I'm proudly a combo.
