The Ball State University's women's indoor track and field team is ready for everything that the Mid-American Conference can throw at them.
This weekend they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio, to compete in the indoor MAC Championships. The Cardinals are more than convinced in their abilities in bringing home the MAC crown.
Sophomore Voni Ferguson expressed her feelings, saying she feels confident and sure of her team's chances.
"I'm just excited, not nervous, just excited," Ferguson said. "I feel as a team we are ready to take what we have done all season into this meet."
Now only a few weeks from heading outside, the Cardinals hope to add the finishing touches on an impressive indoor season with the next couple meets being the most weighted.
Pulling out a second place finish against Western Michigan and Miami, two MAC contenders, last weekend has boosted the Cardinals' motivation. Big meets this year have yielded high results for the Cardinals and with the importance of the meet this weekend it is expected to be no different.
Senior Jill Scully, the MAC's defending champion in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters, remains unselfish and sympathetic to the betterment of the team.
"I would definitely like to go out and defend my titles in the [3,000] and the [5,000] and hopefully get top three in the mile," Scully said. "But, basically I just want to get out there and get as many points for the team as I can."
