Dear Editor,
My name is Ray Hart. Many of you know me; many of you don't. For those who don't, I am a part of The Cardinal Movement - and so are you, if you'd like to be.
The reason I am writing this is to reach out to you, the common student who doesn't seem to care about what's going on. This letter is to the ones who don't know exactly the ins and outs of student government or even the ins and outs of Ball State, the ones who know that college is more about networking than it is about r+â-¬sum+â-¬s and the ones that know that college is a time to better ourselves while bettering the community and other people around us.
Student Government Association at this school is not as readily known as it should be. It should be the place where any and all students can come to speak their minds, speak their thoughts and speak their dreams for this university. Ball State University is a wonderful place, filled with a plethora of unsung potential.
That's a lot of unsung potential!
This potential comes from the students. There are approximately 18,000 able-bodied students at this university; 18,000 people to team up with to create a better university and a better Ball State. The Cardinal Movement is a slate that is running for SGA executive positions - not for ourselves but because we feel we can make a change in students, a rise so to speak, so that we can all move toward a better Ball State.
I understand the grievances against us, and I understand that not all of the students out there want us to be in office. We might not have the experience in office, but we've got the heart and passion needed to put every god-blessed foot forward to get students excited to go here.
Even though 18,000 students go here, only about 4,000 of them voted during the last contested election. I am reaching out to the students right now, the students who have always wanted to see a better Ball State but haven't known exactly how to do it.
The Cardinal Movement is everyone in this university moving together toward a better Ball State; we just need the student support to start this thing.
I am asking for you to join the movement, vote for The Cardinal Movement online today at www.bsu.edu/votebsu.
Our main goal is to bridge the gap between Ball State students and their student government. If you don't believe me, contact us. We would love to hear what students would like, so that we can all move toward a better Ball State together.
