The Ball State University indoor track and field team feels nervous, but well prepared, for their first road test of the season, team members said.
The Cardinals travel tonight to Bowling Green, Ohio, for the Bowling Green Triangular. They will face DePaul and Cincinnati. along with Mid-American Conference rival Bowling Green, which will host the meet.
Coming off last week's impressive effort in the Ball State Open, the women's team is optimistic and ready to take on the much tougher competition in Bowling Green.
"After the first meet we looked back and saw that we all performed well," sophomore Amber Williams said. -á"That helped us to have a very high morale and gave us a lot of confidence going into the next meet."
The Cardinals ran through the other teams at the Ball State Open, placing first in eight of the 13 events that were held. The meet tonight also will be the first running of all the regular events that are within the competitions for the rest of the year. This means the meets that had participants running just one event and being done are gone and meets with individual and relay events are now prevalent.
The runners, throwers and jumpers are now the most eager. Even though nervousness is taking its toll upon the younger members of the team, most are very excited and ready to go.
"I'm really nervous going in because this is my first real meet, being a freshman," Jessica Genovese said. "But I'm really excited to see what happens and excited to compete."
