WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: McCormick wins CVU player of the week

Just one day after earning her first Mid-American Conference player of the week honer, junior libero Amanda McCormick became the first player in Ball State University history to win the Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) National Player of the Week.

McCormick tied for third in NCAA annels for digs in a three game match after notching 37 in Ball State's 3-0 win over Toledo on Saturday. It was also a career high.

The night before McCormick tied a then-career high with 35 digs in a 3-2 win over Akron on Friday.

McCormick leads the MAC and is fourth in the NCAA in digs per game with 6.22. Former Cardinal Stephanie Keller holds the Ball State and MAC season record for digs per game with 5.88.

McCormick is one of only three liberos to win the award and the second of 2005. Jenny McReynolds, a libero from Princeton, won the award last week.

Ball State will conlcude the regular season slate this weekend heading to Eastern Michigan on Friday and Central Michigan on Saturday.
