SOCCER: Six named to All-Mid-American Conference teams

The Ball State University soccer team was awarded for its good play this season by having six players named to All-Mid-American Conference teams.

Ball State, which finished the season 15-3-2 overall and 8-2-1 in MAC play, led all conference schools with six selections.Senior defender Krista Mitts, the team's co-captain, became only the third player in team history to be named to the All-MAC First Team.

The selection was the first in her four-year career at Ball State.Named to the All-MAC Second Team were midfielders Vandi Ogden and Angie Heyer, forward Sarah Leibel and goalkeeper Alison Becker. It was the most players named to one team in the club's history.

Ball State had three players selected to the second team in 2002.Freshman forward Emily Rein also received honors in her first campaign with the team. Rein was named to the All-MAC Freshman Team, becoming the fourth player in school history to receive that honor. Rein's season ended early when she suffered a torn ACL in her right knee against Western Michigan.
