Showcase focuses on software research

The Software Engineering Research Center (SERC) participated in its Fall Showcase with leading high tech companies and universities on Nov. 16 and 17 at the Ball State University Alumni Center.

SERC is a National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Program celebrating its 20th year of applied research in software engineering.

The goal of the showcase is to present the current status of the various funded applied research projects and to present new proposals to initiate further industry-university collaboration.

Some of the current and past projects include developing software to protect the military on the battlefield, improving the software design process to make software more reliable, validating and verifying software systems for NASA space shuttles, improving software security, testing the reliability of cell phones and wireless networks, assessing the usability of Web sites and application software, validating machines that manufacture automobile parts, increasing productivity by studying the impact of distributed global software testing, corroborating fault proneness of medical systems and developing interactive educational tools.
