Radio host to speak about media models

Bob Garfield, host of National Public Radio's "On The Media" and author of "The Chaos Scenario" will give a presentation at 8 p.m. today in Cardinal Hall at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center.

Garfield's talk will explore the transition between the "old media" model and the possibilities and limitations media faces as it moves into the future.

Garfield has written for a number of publications, including USA Today, Playboy, The New York Times and Sports Illustrated. He was also a commentator for NPR's "All Things Considered" before becoming co-host of "On The Media."

"On the Media" airs on WNYC 93.9 FM/AM 820.

He has published a collection of works titled "Waking Up Screaming from the American Dream," and co-wrote a country song, "Tag, You're It," which was performed by Willie Nelson.

He is an advertising analyst for ABC News and was previously for CBS News, CNBC, PBS and the Financial News Network.

He has also been a contributing editor for Civilization and the Washington Post Magazine.

Garfield's presentation is co-sponsored by the Freshman Connections program and Indiana Public Radio.
