LETTERS: Parking Services should show more interest in student needs

Dear Editor,

I realize that you probably receive countless e-mails complaining about Parking Services, but I just wanted to bring this one incident to light.

Earlier in the year, I dropped my son off at around 7 p.m. with his babysitter who lives in Dehority Complex.

I am sometimes there for a few minutes talking with our sitter and her roommate. Earlier this year, I came out to my car, and I had a $25 ticket attached to my window. Needless to say, I was a bit upset.

So I went over to Parking Services that morning, and they said they couldn't do anything about it.

I just want to ask the question of Parking Services: Do you honestly want me to park in a commuter lot - which I do have a pass for and park in after dropping him off - and walk for 10 minutes with a 10-month-old child as the weather gets colder and colder, risking him becoming ill?

I realize rules exist for a reason, but when non-students can park wherever they want for a Blue Collar Comedy Tour guy and get their tickets waived, but a young father trying to pay his way through college gets the sour end of the deal because he was looking out for the well-being of his son, something is seriously wrong.
