Matt Baccarani of Ball State's men's tennis team wrapped up a successful fall campaign with a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Notre Dame's Stephen Bass in the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regional.
Bass went on the win the tournament and earn the big for the All-American Indoor Championship.
While Baccarani will not be heading to the tournament as a singles player, he will team up with Patrick Thompson for the doubles side of the tournament.
Joe and Jarrod Epkey competed in the main draw of singles, with both of them losing to seeded opponents. Jarrod Epkey faced the tournaments top seed, Ohio State's Devin Mullings, who is ranked No. 19 in the country.
In qualifying singles the Cardinals again drew seeded players, including the flight's top seed and neither Tony Epkey nor Patrick Thompson was able to score a win.
The Cardinals fared better in doubles with Jarrod and Tony Epkey advancing to the round of 16 before falling to Bryan Koniecko and Ross Wilson of Ohio State.
The duos of Jose Perdomo and Danny Vidal and Joe Epkey and Joe Vallee both fell in the first round of doubles.
The women's tennis team, meanwhile, had one singles player advance in qualifying. Stephanie Farrar advanced two rounds but couldn't earn a seat in the main draw when she fell to conference foe Heidi Romer of Bowling Green.
Emma Retter, Haly Calderwood fell in two in the first round of singles qualifying, while Jennifer Pollack forced a third set.
In singles main draw Jessica Thompson fell in the first round to Malena Remynse of Western Michigan.
In doubles Calderwood and Thompson had an 8-6 victory over Bradley's Teri Chan and Kim Braun before falling to Bowling Green's Ashley Jakupcin and Jenna Nussbaum 8-6 in round two.
