IN RESPONSE TO: BSU claims evaluations not public

Whether it is wise for AAUP [American Association of University Presidents] members to avoid signing the form, it seems appropriate that information regarding the provost candidates should be available to the public.
The role of the provost is an important part of the administration of a public organization. Ball State University is a public university which is largely [about 39 percent] publicly funded. In other words, tax dollars pay for this university.
When such an important position is up for an institution of this size, it seems that the students as well as the general public should be able to access information about qualifications of a particular candidate. In the opinion of this student and citizen, it is imperative that such information be made available as a check in our democratic republican system.

Somebody better explain who looks at the receipts before the check is written to reimburse the bookstore.
It should be quite obvious that when an athlete majoring in underwater basketweaving turns in a receipt for a bio-chem textbook, something is not right.

IN RESPONSE TO: Athletics Department not being responsible for policy violations

On the money note: Lights and stadium equals better recruiting equals better results equals more donations and indirect revenue for both the university and Muncie as a whole.
Just because you may not see it in your school career doesn't mean it won't be beneficial later on to others. Not everything is about the short term and you.

Who assembled this schedule? You are actually blaming Bubba Cunningham for this schedule? ...
Go find yourself a 2001 Football Media Guide. On page 59, you'll discover the future schedules, and Ball State was [already] scheduled to play at Auburn. ...
You blame Bubba Cunningham for this year's schedule, which is not true. How about giving him credit for getting Indiana to come to Muncie next season?
I'm not any happier about the suspensions than any other Ball State fan. But to tie scheduling and these suspensions is wrong.
