Two members of Ball State University's men's tennis team will face a duo from the University of Utah in the first round of the ITA All-American Doubles Tournament.
The No. 15 duo of Matt Baccarani and Patrick Thompson will battle No. 12 Zach Ganger and Miron Mann in the first flight of the tournament.
Ganger and Baccarani both lost to Marco Born of Middle Tennessee State University in the ITA's singles qualifying flight.
Baccarani and Thompson teamed up to put together a 30-6 overall record last year, including a 9-8 (10-6) win over the University of Illinois' Ryler DeHeart and GD Jones, who were ranked fourth in the nation at the time. The later fell to DeHeart and Jones in the season ending NCAA tournament.
It will be only the third time Baccarani and Thompson have teamed up this season.
After working with freshmen in the Ball State Fall Invitational, the No. 15 duo defeated Michigan's No. 22 Brian Hung and Matko Maravic before falling to Ryan Keckley and Eric Langenkamp of Notre Dame.
The winner of today's match will face the winner of Illinois' Kevin Anderson and DeHeart and Middle Tennessee's No. 8 Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn.
