Junior dies in campus motorcycle accident

A Ball State University junior is dead following a motorcycle accident on campus Friday afternoon.Joshua Hudson, a business administration major from Huntington, Ind., died at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Sgt. Arey of the Muncie Police Department said Saturday.

Hudson was listed in serious condition due to blunt force trauma to the head at the hospital late Friday night.

According to police reports, the accident occurred as Hudson was traveling eastbound on Riverside Avenue on a motorcycle. A Ford Taurus, driven by Kevin Smith, was stopped on Riverside Avenue facing west waiting to turn left on Martin Street. Smith waited for a bicyclist to cross the street and then began to turn left. Hudson hit the right side of Smith's car. Hudson was not wearing his helmet.

Kay Bales, dean of student affairs, said the university has tried to contact Hudson's family but has been unsuccessful.
