BASEBALL: Alumnus struggles in minor league playoffs

Former Ball State pitcher Bryan Bullington lasted 4.1 innings in his International League playoff debut for the Indianapolis Indians.The Indians fell to the Buffalo Bison 6-5. Buffalo now leads the series 2-0, and the series heads to Buffalo today for game three of a five-game series.The top pick in the 2002 Major League Baseball draft and one of the Pittsburgh Pirates top prospects, Bullington, allowed four runs on nine hits, striking out four. He also walked two and gave up a home run.Indianapolis entered the top of the ninth holding a 5-4 lead but allowed two runs and couldn’t capitalize during their final chance to score with Eddie Olszta on third base with two outs.Bullington entered the playoffs with a 9-5 record and a 3.38 ERA.
