FOOTBALL 2006 schedule includes Indiana, Michigan

IU becomes first Big 10 school to play in Ball State Stadium

Ball State’s athletic department announced the 2006 out-of-conference football schedule today, and many area programs are on the docket. Ball State will travel to Purdue and Michigan and will play host to Indiana University and North Dakota State to fill out the 2006 schedule.

The announcement will mark the first time a Big Ten school has play at Ball State Stadium. The season will bring the first ever matchups against North Dakota State and Michigan, the third against Indiana and the seventh against Purdue, including the 59 - 7 schlacking in 2004.

Ball State last played Indiana in 1999, when they lost 21-9.

The Indiana game may have been possible due to the installment of former Miami coach Terry Hoeppner, who coached against the Cardinals in the Mid-American Conference.

The season will begin at Michigan, then host Indiana the following weekend. It will be followed by a matchup at Purdue and the out of conference schedule will conclude with North Dakota State coming to town.

“Once again our football schedule will be a challenging one that will offer opportunities for our student-athletes,” BSU football coach Brady Hoke said in a press release. “To face three Big Ten schools gives our players the chance to showcase their talents against some of the nation’s stiffest competition.”
