President Jo Ann Gora has been asked to be on the board of directors for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
Gora is one of 12 education, business and civic leaders who were recently asked to join the board, which consists of presidents, CEOs and other executives from Indiana companies.
"I am honored to have been nominated to serve on the Indiana Chamber of Commerce board of directors and to provide the board a voice from Ball State and the educational community," Gora said in a prepared statement.
She also said that this would be an opportunity to form relationships with other executives, which could lead to some equally beneficial partnerships.
Gora will attend the chamber's annual meetings in the spring and fall and will also be a member of a policy committee relating to her profession.
Gora was appointed in midyear, so she will not know her committee assignment until the next meeting in November.
The board is looking forward to having Gora as a member, and with her help, hopes to promote higher education and issues in the work force more, Kevin Brinegar, the chamber's president, said in a prepared statement.
The chamber also lobbies in the Statehouse and Congress, advocating for businesses in Indiana and making sure that employees of Indiana businesses are not working in unfair conditions, according to its mission statement.
