Three Ball State baseball players were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings NCAA All-Mideast Region teams.
Senior relief pitcher Erik Morrison -- who is now the closer for the Long Island Yankees, the New York Yankees' Single-A short-season team -- was selected to the association's All-Mideast First Team as well as its Rawlings All-America Third Team.
Juniors Kyle Dygert and Mike Sullivan were picked to the coaches association's Mideast Second Team.
Morrison, the Cardinals' closer last season, finished the 2005 season by tying the NCAA records for most saves (15) and finishing with an undefeated record, with 7-0. He also led the Cardinals with a 1.32 ERA.
He was also named Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year for 2004-05 and was selected to the All-MAC First Team. He signed his free-agent contract with the Yankees in early June.
Dygert, the Cardinals' second baseman, finished sixth in the MAC with a .355 season batting average and a .396 average in league play. He also finished as the fourth best hitter in the league, with 76 hits.
Playing centerfield, Sullivan finished in the league's eighth spot with a .353 batting average, and he finished second in hits (82) and runs (57) for the league.
Dygert and Sullivan tied for the team's longest hitting streak during the season, which stretched to 14 consecutive games.
