On June 7, a Ball State University associate professor of communication studies will lead a seminar for women in leadership positions. "Having Difficult Conversations With Co-Workers" will define strategies women can use to more effectively deal with difficult people in the workplace.
Laura O'Hara's seminar will be the keynote address of the monthly meeting sponsored by Women and Hi Tech, which is free and open to the public.
Women and Hi Tech is made up of both women and men from central Indiana. Its goals are to attract, develop, retain, support and promote women interested in technology through networking, mentoring and educating them as well as providing professional development to them.
The organization works with young girls and women, from college students to elementary school students, and its monthly meetings to provide professional-development opportunities to them through presenters, such as O'Hara, and other programming.
O'Hara teaches both graduate and undergraduate students at Ball State in the areas of communication, conflict, organizational culture and public speaking. Her work has been published in journals such as Communication Studies, the Southern Communication Journal and Communication Education.

Women and Hi Tech will be at Ball State again on July 6 to hold an information session for behavior consultants wishing to earn a master's degree in special education with a concentration in emotional disabilities.
