Ball State University's Men's Glee Club (The Statesmen), Women's Chorus, Chamber Choir and Concert Choir will perform at Emens Auditorium Saturday night in the 2005 Spring Choral Concert.
Jeffrey Carter, the assistant professor of music who is co-conducting the concert with associate professor of music performance Jeffrey Pappas, says that one of the most unique parts to the concert will be a series of pieces performed by the concert choir whose composers have either a 25th, 50th or 100th anniversary coming up for an important event in their lives. The concert will begin with a piece by a composer who has been dead for 500 years and end with a piece by a composer whose 50th birthday is this year. The Chamber Choir will be performing one piece, the world premiere of a piece by Ball State graduate Joe Harchenko. There will be around 20 pieces performed overall.
"Any time a bunch of people get together to sing, magic happens," Carter said. "It's one of the greatest things to have people of different backgrounds coming together to make something beautiful."
Tickets will be for $5 general admission; student tickets are free with a valid Ball State I.D. through 4 p.m. April 22. Advance tickets will be available at the Emens Auditorium Box Office. Tickets will also be on sale one hour before the concert at Sursa Hall Box Office.
