Two teams struggling to find wins will meet each other when Ball State and Ohio play today at 2 p.m. The Cardinals and Bobcats' doubleheader today features the two teams that sit in last place in their respective divisions of the Mid-American Conference.
Ball State is 16-32 overall, 3-11 in the MAC West. Ohio is 17-31 overall and is 3-11 in the MAC East.
"They've had an up-and-down season also," coach Terri Laux said of the Bobcats. "The focus is gonna be on us and what we need to do. We need to keep improving not only for this year but still most importantly for next year."
The Cards have lost their last two games coming at the hands of MAC East leader Marshall. BSU was in position to take both games at home on Monday, but the Herd pulled out two wins.
Amanda Pick leads the Cards with a .260 batting average, while Abby Gross is second, hitting .250. Cortney Patteson leads the team with a .333 average in MAC games.
Amy Brownfield continued to lower her ERA by allowing just one earned run in her last outing against Marshall. She is 7-9 this season with a 2.55 ERA.
Jennifer Tisevich's leads Ohio with a .346 batting average. Zoe Heim is the top Bobcat pitcher with a 3.24 ERA.
