Stovall to go under the knife for his knee

Peyton Stovall will undergo surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament on March 30.

The sophomore guard, who averaged 16.7 points per game and shot 44.9 percent from the field, tore his ACL in the first round of the Mid-American Conference championship.

With 6:52 remaining in the first half, Stovall drove to the basket and fell. He had to be carried from the floor.

"Nobody wants this to happen to them," Stovall said. "But God is testing my faith, and I have all trust in Him. After surgery, I will begin working hard to get back to full strength. The support of my family, teammates and friends has, and will, get me through. I am down, but not out."

Stovall is expected to have a full recovery.
