If qualifying for the NCAA championships in women's indoor track were this weekend, junior Jill Scully would've made a run at qualifying in the 5,000-meter run. This past weekend, at the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame, she finished the race in 16:49.85, which was five seconds over the mark for NCAA provisional qualifying.
Once again, team scores weren't counted, but the Cardinals, under head coach Sue Parks, produced results. Senior Ashley Gillies finished ninth at the triple jump as well as 11th in the high jump. Also adding top 10 finishes were sophomores Terri Abraham and Cara Collins. Abraham was eighth in the triple jump while Collins was eighth in the weight throw.
Meanwhile freshman Yvonne Ferguson was ninth in the 400-meter dash and sophomore Amanda Barnhart finished 10th in the long jump competition. The 4x400 relay team continued their strong start to the season with a fourth place time. All said, there were 14 top-20 finishes for BSU, who continue the indoor season at the Penn State Challenge Cup next weekend in State College, Pa.
