LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Tietz accomplishments are not so few according to student

This letter is in response to the Our View: Active Representation printed on Nov. 18, 2004. I am thoroughly sick and tired of seeing the Daily News continue to attack the Tietz Administration with no solid arguments against them. The editorial states that "little has changed around this campus since Tietz took office months ago and we're beginning to see that as a problem." I think that much has changed around this campus since the Tietz Administration took office. This administration has led the campus through one of the toughest times I have seen over my four and a half years at the university. The Tietz's administration was dealt a huge challenge with the uproars of the students last spring with the Police Yourself Campaign. They took the challenge and ran with it by holding open forums for students, meeting with administrators and finding out all sides of the argument. Instead of receiving gratitude, they received criticism. They have been working diligently all term on their platform that they ran on. Many of the things they ran on are close to completion. Change can't happen over night, and yet the Daily News is so quick to judge and say that nothing has been accomplished. So next time before you say "prove to us you are doing something," make sure you have researched your statements. Then if you are still concerned, by all means criticize those in office.
