WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Goff, Reiter return home

Former Ball State players are on Hoosier Lady Stars roster

After spending the last month trying to figure out how to replace Johna Goff and Jessica Reiter, the women's basketball team will play against them on Monday night.

Ball State will face the Hoosier Lady Stars, which Goff and Reiter are members of, in its second exhibition game on Monday.

"I'm excited to see them," head coach Tracy Roller said. "I'm excited to play and watch them play, but it's going to be difficult because it's tough to replace them."

Both Goff and Reiter ended their career at Ball State last year as the second best scorer and rebounder, respectively, in the history the program. Goff scored 1,635 points throughout her career and Reiter pulled down 993 boards. Reiter was also a 1,000-point scorer, finishing with 1,171.

Roller said the rest of the Stars roster should be strong as well, giving the Cardinals a tougher challenge then the Ohio legends did earlier this season. Ball State defeated the Legends 80-53 almost two weeks ago.

"I just think from an individual standpoint this is a much better, well rounded team," Roller said.

While the team the Cardinals will face may be better, Roller said her team is better as well.

"Our team has progressed so quickly," she said. "I have a good feeling about tomorrow night.

"I feel like we're really ready to for just about anything right now."

Ball State needs to be ready for anything because the team will leave on Thursday for the Seton Hall Tournament where they begin their regular season on Friday against Wagner.

Senior Kate Endress, junior Raechelle Hampton and sophomore Kelsey Corbin have solidified a starting position, Roller said, while the other two spots remain competitive.
