Lineup still muddled after weekend wins

Ball State went to the Milwaukee Open hoping to create somedivision between it's singles player to help create a startinglineup for the spring, and didn't bring top players Matt Laramoreand Matt Baccarani. Little separation could be seen, however, asevery Cardinal except Jimmy Brannon was able to advance out of thefirst round, and all of those who advanced fell in the second roundto a seeded opponent.

Patrick Thompson, Brad Rhodes, Klint Knable, Mike Heule, JanPalhomus, Anthony Epkey and Paul Newman all won matches.

Despite the struggles for the Cardianls, the main goal ofadditional playing time was achieved, with all singles playersparticipating in two singles matches, and several advancing to thesecond round of doubles play.

The Milwaukee Open concludes the preseason for the team. Theregular season begins in January.
