This past Sunday's Divas and Deserts, a joint effort betweenVera Mae's and the Ball State fashion department, offered patronsan opportunity to come for a variety of desert platters, and tostay after for a fashion show that featured some of Ball State'smost talented clothing designers and models. Cameras snapped andfashion lovers 'ooh'ed' and 'aah'ed' as models strutted up and downthe narrow aisles between the tables of the main dining areas to anupbeat jazz soundtrack. The models showcased a visually diverseselection of fashion styles, ranging from grungy street-wear toelegant evening dresses.

"We never imagined the show would go this well," Birk said.
