Professor to discuss community problems

Students can learn about the social problems facing the Munciecommunity, as well as how to help out with these problems, during apresentation today.

Ball State's Irving Distinguished Professor of Architecture,Tony Costello, will present "The Muncie Urban Design Studio:Combining Community-Based Education and Public Service" at 4 p.m.in room 144 of the Whitinger Business Building.

Costello will speak about the partnerships between the MuncieUrban Design Studio and local organizations.

The Muncie Urban Design Studio was established in 1980 and is apart of Ball State's nationally renowned architecture program.

The program's goal focuses on the relationship between theMuncie community and the architecture students. It gives thesestudents an opportunity to complete public service throughcommunity-based education.

After the talk, which is sponsored by Ball State's chapter ofPhi Kappa Phi, an all-discipline honor society, there will be aninformal reception open to the public.
