Judy O'Bannon, former Indiana first lady, will be honored forher work in preserving historic sites at 5 p.m. today as a part ofcelebrating the grand opening of Ball State's Center for HistoricPreservation.
The center, which has its headquarters at the Mary LincolnCottage provided by Minnetrista Cultural Center, is an extension ofthe College of Architecture and Planning.
Beverley Pitts, provost and vice president of academic affairs,and Mayor Dan Canan will preside over the ribbon cuttingceremony.
A banquet will follow at 6 p.m. at the Muncie Community CivicCenter. O'Bannon will be honored with Indiana Supreme Court ChiefJustice Randall T. Shepard, Wabash philanthropist Richard Ford andCarmel architect H. Roll McLaughlin.
Tickets are $23 per person for the banquet.
At 8:15 p.m., Carol Shull, keeper of the National Register ofHistoric Places, will speak at the Muncie Community Civic Center'sEdmund Burke Ball Auditorium. The event is free and open to thepublic.
