MEN'S TENNIS Baccarani and Thompson begin main draw

Ball State's trip to Chattanooga, Tenn. continues this weekend as Cardinals Matt Baccarani and Patrick Thompson begin the main doubles draw of the ITA All-American Tournament.

The tandem of Baccarani and Thompson will face Danny Bryan and Colt Gaston of LSU in the first round of the tournament. Baccarani and Thompson are ranked No. 53 in the country currently, and recently won Ball State's fall invitational.

Bryan and Gaston are on a roll, as they advanced from the qualifying tournament to make the main draw. Gaston and Bryan are in their first tournament together.

LSU closed the 2004 season ranked No. 13 in the country and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Should the Cardinals advance, they would face the winner of a match-up between No. 6 Nick Meythaler and Ryan Rizza of Virgina and California's No. 18 Patrick Briaud and Conor Niland.

The remainder of the men's tennis team will be in Louisville at the Louisville invitational.
