WOMEN'S TENNIS: Cardinals awarded All-Academic honor

For the sixth straight year, the women's tennis team wasselected by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association to theAll-Academic Team, marking the seventh time in nine years the teamhas earned this honor.

The honor, given to 82 other teams but only three Mid-AmericanConference schools, is given to a school that has a cumulative teamgrade-point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale.

In addition to the team honor, six players were named to membersof the All-Academic squad, the most ever. Adrienne Campbell, BethCampus, Jessica Thompson, Jill Wieman, Melissa Roach and SusanKelley earned ITA Scholar Athlete accolades.

Ball State's women's tennis team boasts a cumulative 3.52 GPA torank second out of BSU's 19 athletic teams. Seven of the eightplayers on the team compiled a 3.0 or higher GPA after the springsemester.

"This is an honor we take a lot of pride in," coach Kathy Bullsaid in a Ball State Sports press release. "To carry on thistradition for six straight years and nine times in the past 10years is quite an accomplishment. To have six players earn theaward speaks volumes and I cannot be more proud of their hard workand dedication not only on the court, but in the classroom aswell."

Ball State begins its 2004 fall season Sept. 17-19 at theWestern Michigan Bronco Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich.
