WOMEN'S GOLF: Cardinals end up fifth at Cardinal Classic

Ball State improves, jumps up a position on closing day

Led by junior Julie Harder's 74, Ball State shot a 303 on thesecond day of the Cardinal Classic, moving up on the second dayfrom sixth to fifth. The Cardinals totaled a two-day score of 620,just one stroke behind Toledo and two behind third-place EasternKentucky.

Western Michigan won the event, which was held at Players Clubin Yorktown, with a total of 581. The Broncos had all five playersin the top 15 as they successfully defended their Cardinal Classictitle. Ferris State took second with a 597. Stephanie Donkin of WMUwas individual champion with a141 (66-75).

Harder, who shot a 76 on the first day was ninth out of 93players. Following Harder was junior Carmen Bodine, who posted thebest score of the team on day one at 75. She finished in 12thplace, totaling 152 (75-77). Rounding out the team's scores weresophomore Amber Uphaus (tied for 38th, 87-73-160), junior KatieSundberg (tied for 41st, 79-83-162), and sophomore Chelsie Flannery(tied for 71st, 95-79-174).

BSU was also represented by junior Ali Meyer (82-81-163),sophomore Holly Jones (81-83-164) and senior Lindsay LaRocco(90-83-173). All three competed individually.

The Cards have two meets in their fall schedule -- at EasternKentucky (September 24-25) and Florida International (October8-10).
