Starting the pre-season with a bang, the Ball State softballteam was crowned champions at the IUPUI Tournament over theweekend.
The Cardinals finished 5-1 over the weekend, including a 3-0 winover Indiana State after the championship game againstIndianapolis. Ball State started the tournament on Saturday with a5-1 win over Marian College before falling to IUPUI, 6-3. Laterthat day against Southern Indiana, the Cardinals rebounded with a6-1 win.
On Sunday, the Cardinals advanced to the championship game witha 5-4 win against Butler that lasted eight innings. In thechampionship game, Ball State squeaked out a 1-0 win over theUniversity of Indianapolis, despite collecting just two hits.
This weekend, the Cardinals continue their pre-season scheduleat the Purdue Tournament, where they'll again face IUPUI and alsoPurdue.
